Think of Zanzibar and most conjure up images of exotic spice-filled markets, white sand beaches, and complex cultures. Because of trade, Zanzibar has been home to Africans, Arabs, Indians, and Persians all of who have brought their food here. The islands main industries now are in fact spice, many parts of it growing Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Cloves and black pepper making it one of the richest spice areas of the world.
With all these spices and cultures coming together its no wonder that Zanzibar has indeed one of the best curry spices I have had. It's sweet, pungent, spicy, and speaks to all the cultures who have called Zanzibar their home.
Our Zanzibar Curry makes great with all curries, rice and any dish that requires coconut. My favorite is with a Coconut milk curry making a creamy rich base similar to a Thai Curry.
