Yemen an Arab nation found in the Gulf Regions is quite possibly the oldest part of Arabia. This was one of my favorite countries I have traveled to and yes you guessed it, the food was one of the main highlights. Yemeni food is complex and full of spices and their main blend is an earthy combination called Hawaij.
Primarily used on baked vegetables and meats they cook underground, Hawaij is now gaining international attention for many other uses. Being from a crossroads of the Spice Trade, Yemeni Hawaij’s complex flavors are unique and can be experimented with. Sample a truly rare spice from the heart of Arabia!
Yemeni Hawaij from our experience goes great with slow cooker stews, BBQ ground meats, and baked vegetables!
