Nutmeg - Indonesian

Nutmeg is the inner seed of a fruit that grows on the Nutmeg Tree. It’s a commonly used spice in the west, but nothing compares to freshly grated nutmeg yourself which has bold pine and woody flavors. In parts of Asia and Africa Nutmeg is used commonly in curries, rice, and many other regional dishes.
 
The main growing region of nutmeg is Indonesia coming from what is known as the “Spice Islands”. Most don’t know that Mace also comes from the same fruit and is removed from the outer part of the Nutmeg Seed.
 
Ground Nutmeg loses its flavors quick, so grating it yourself will provide the best Nutmeg flavors.
