Chinese Five Spice
Every time I smell this spice it reminds me of walking down the dim lit streets of Beijing’s historic district. The smell of stir-fries, complex soups and some of the best Chinese street food there is. This spice is everything that Chinese cuisine is meant to be, not the ginger beef western Chinese variation (Western Chinese uses this spice too!), but the authentic flavors of the Orient.
It is said that Chinese Five Spice was originally created to mask the smell of rotting fish. Being as powerful of a spice as Chinese Five Spice is, I believe that it wouldn’t just cover it up, but make it taste good too!
Our Chinese Five Spice uses all the authentic ingredients, Cassia from Vietnam, Sichuan Peppercorns, Star Anise, Fennel, and our best cloves. Adding it to any of your Chinese style dish will make your kitchen smell of the East. I love to add it into noodle soups as well!
Ingredients: Star Anise, Fennel, Cassia Cinnamon, Szechuan Peppercorns, Cloves
