Chilhuacle Negro Chile

Chilhuacle Negro Chile is a very rare and ancient chile. It’s a moderately hot chile with strong notes of Cacao and tobacco that is used in Oaxacan style Mole. The Chilhuacle Negro Chile grows only in the Cañada valley of Oaxaca, a designated UNESCO ecological zone. Chilhuacle means ‘the ancient chile’ in Nahualt, the language of the Aztec people spoken throughout this region.
 
This is one of the rarest chilies we offer and the chance to taste them is a truly special experience. We are pleased to say that we ethically source these chilies from small indigenous communities of Oaxaca helping not only the people who live their, but to ensure this chile stays available!
