Calabrian Chile - Peperoncino
In the region of Calabria during the autum season the local red chillies known as both diavolino (little devil) or peperoncino are harvested and hung bountifully up above doors and draped from balconies in the Calabria mountain villages to be dried by the sun. They add a welcome blast of colour in a landscape mellowing its way into its Autumn harvest period.
Calabrian Chile or Peperoncino is a sweet semi hot Chile that adds alot of flavor and colour to any Italian inspired dish. Our favourite is adding it to pasta, salads and sprinkling over top clay oven pizza! Peperoncino is easily one of our favorite chile's here at the Spice Merchant and is a seasonal Chile so get it while you can!
